The look

What it actually looks like

Why glamp at Krankenhaus?

Krankenhaus is the micro-festival brought to you by Sea Power, Muncaster Castle and friends - music, talks, fell walks, birds of prey and steam trains on the wild western edge of the Lake District. It sells out its limited capacity, and it's a long way to carry a tent. We pitch yours before you arrive.

What past glamping guests say

Krankenhaus returns for its sixth edition in 2026 and sells out its limited capacity. We've pitched 1000s of bell tents at weddings, festivals and events across the UK.

On-site logistics: showers, arrival, getting there

More practical info (2)
  • What to bring

Festival ticket, warm layers, waterproofs and a power bank - there are no electric hook-ups on the campsite. Bedding only if you didn't add it to your booking. The Pennington Hotel village store covers essentials, 8am to 10pm.

  • The far Lakes

Ravenglass is the national park's only coastal village, inside two UNESCO World Heritage sites. It's remote - sort lifts and supplies before you set off.

Common questions about glamping at Krankenhaus

  • Are beds, bedding and towels included? +

No. The tent price buys the tent, pitched and waiting before you arrive, plus the styling on Luxury. Beds, bedding and towels are add-ons you choose in the booking: single airbed £15, double airbed £20, memory foam single mattress £30, bed frame £15, bedding set £20 per bed (double £40, king £40), towel pack £15 per person. Pick only what you want, or bring your own.

  • What is Krankenhaus Festival? +

A micro-festival at Muncaster Castle brought to you by Sea Power, Muncaster Castle and friends - live music, talks, fell walks, birds of prey, steam trains and a full kids' programme on the western edge of the Lake District. 2026 runs Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August, with names like Stereolab, Sea Power, Sprints, Charlotte Church's End Times Pop Dungeon and a talks line-up including Stewart Lee.

  • Which nights does glamping cover? +

Four nights: arrive from midday Thursday 27 August, leave by 6pm Monday 31 August - the same window as the festival's general camping. One price for the tent, however many of those nights you use.

  • Can I stay longer? +

Yes. The extra Monday night is +£35 per tent, or stay the full week from Tuesday 25 August for +£75 per tent - both include the festival's extra night / Long Stay camping pass. Email events@theglampinggroup.com after booking and we'll add it.

  • Where is the glamping? +

In the festival camping fields at Muncaster Castle, no more than 400m from the car park through the castle main gate. Music runs at the Home Farm Barn and Glade stage areas from early afternoon.

  • Where are the toilets and showers? +

Fresh water, hot showers and toilets are in the camping fields and at the Gateway Cafe, with further toilets at the Old Barn and Courtyard, plus an accessible toilet. The festival asks everyone to use eco-friendly shower products.

Show all 21 questions
  • Is there power in the tents? +

No - the festival has no electric hook-ups on site. Each tent has a battery camping light; bring a power bank for phones.

  • Can I bring a dog? +

Krankenhaus itself is famously dog-friendly - dogs on leads in the arena, and there's even a best-of-fest dog competition. If you'd like a dog to stay in one of our tents, email events@theglampinggroup.com before booking so we can confirm the setup.

  • Is it family-friendly? +

Very. Under-3s go free, there's a dedicated kids' programme with an adventure playground, enchanted trail and giant swing, and festival tickets include free entry to Muncaster Castle, its gardens and the birds-of-prey flying displays.

  • How do I get there? +

By road, stick to the A595 - don't let sat nav send you over the fell roads. The car park is adjacent to the A595 at CA18 1RD. By rail, Ravenglass station is a short walk from the castle, reached via Carlisle from the north or Lancaster/Preston from the south, with local taxis for luggage.

  • What about my car or campervan? +

There's no vehicle access to the campsite - the festival sells weekend parking passes for the car park, and campervans have their own field beside it (passes from the festival, no hook-ups). The walk from car park to campsite is 400m at most.

  • How big are the tents? +

Our 5m bell tents sleep up to 4 people; the 7m XL sleeps up to 6. Strict limits for safety. Groups of 5 or 6 are switched to the XL automatically in the booking.

  • Can I get an empty or luxury-styled 7m tent? +

The XL package above is the 7m tent with the essentials setup at £300. A stripped-back empty 7m is £260 and the luxury-styled 7m is £340 - email events@theglampinggroup.com and we'll book either for you.

  • Is it cold at night? +

Late August on the Cumbrian coast can turn chilly and damp - the festival's own advice is 'pack for all weathers'. Our tents zip fully shut, and a memory foam mattress plus made-up bedding beats any sleeping bag.

  • What time does the music finish? +

DJs run to around 1am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Luxury package welcome pack includes ear plugs and an eye mask.

  • Can 4 friends share one tent? +

Yes - a shared Essentials tent works out at £60 each for all four nights before add-ons. Two memory foam mattresses push together for couples.

  • What if I need to cancel? +

Full refund if you cancel 14 or more days before the festival. No refund inside 14 days. Full T&Cs in your booking confirmation.

  • What if the festival is cancelled? +

Full refund or transfer to another date.

  • Do I still need a festival ticket? +

Yes. Glamping is your accommodation, not your festival pass. Tickets are sold by the festival at krankenhausfestival.com - weekend tickets include general camping and free access to the castle and gardens.

  • When do bookings close? +

Friday 21 August 2026, 7 days before the festival. Tents can sell out before that - Krankenhaus itself regularly does.

  • Where can I find more festival info? +

Line-up, tickets, travel and the full FAQ are on the official site: krankenhausfestival.com.
