The look
Glamping is in Field 1, about a 5-minute walk from the show field.
It's the North East's biggest bike rally, a 35+ year tradition raising money for MAG. The grounds are gorgeous, but rolling in on a bike and then having to pitch a tent isn't the move. We do that bit for you.
When the last set wraps in the Main Marquee or the Iris Tent, your bell tent is already up and a few minutes' walk away. No fighting poles in the dark.
Memory foam mattress, proper bedding, a tent that zips fully shut. Witton Castle nights can be chilly in September - this fixes it.
Roll in with kit for one person, not kit for four. Tent, beds and bedding are already on-site waiting.
Be out by 11am Sunday. We take it from there. You get on the road instead of wrestling a wet tent.

Stormin' the Castle is in its 35th+ year, drawing 5,000+ riders every September. We've pitched 1000s of bell tents at weddings, rallies and events across the UK.
Showers on the show field, run by Northumbria Blood Bikes - small charge donated to their charity. Toilets across the rally site.
Glamping pitches are on the rally site within walking distance of the Main Marquee, Iris Tent, bars and bike show. A few minutes on foot.
Tell us in the booking note who you'd like to be near and we'll do our best, though we can't guarantee it.
Patchy in rural Co. Durham. Sort lifts and pickups before you arrive if anyone's not on a bike.

Witton Castle, DL14 0DE, 5 miles west of Bishop Auckland just off the A68. Bikes and trikes park next to your tent. Cars need a pre-booked permit and use the car park (10-min walk to glamping).

No. The tent price buys the tent, pitched and waiting before you arrive, plus the styling on Luxury. Beds, bedding and towels are add-ons you choose in the booking: single airbed £15, double airbed £20, memory foam single mattress £30, bed frame £15, bedding set £20 per bed (double £40, king £55), towel pack £15 per person. Pick only what you want, or bring your own.

No. It's a condition of the site owner and farmer that animals aren't allowed on the site. Working assistance dogs: email events@theglampinggroup.com and we'll check with the organisers.
Yes, you can add one on-pitch electric hookup per tent for £40. If you don't add hookup, the tent is unplugged: each tent has a battery camping light, and you'll want a power bank for phone charging.
The rally opens at 9am Friday - you can access the camping fields straight away. The show field opens at 12 noon Friday. Your tent is pitched and waiting - find your name on the village welcome board. Check-out: 11am Sunday.
Witton Castle, Witton Le Wear, Co. Durham, DL14 0DE. 5 miles west of Bishop Auckland, just off the A68. It's parkland set around a lake - the country park is also a working campsite the rest of the year.
By bike or trike: most riders take the A68 in from Bishop Auckland or the A1(M) junction 58 then west. By car: car permits must be pre-booked online, you can't turn up and pay at the gate (bikes and trikes can). Nearest train station is Bishop Auckland, then taxi the last 5 miles.
Bikes and trikes park next to your tent. Cars must use the dedicated car park (about a 10-minute walk to glamping) and need a pre-booked car permit - no permit, no entry. Sleeping in vehicles overnight isn't allowed.
Yes - it's a bike rally and the energy on the Main Marquee gets loud, but the rally caters to all ages. Under-5s are free, 5-15s are £15. Fairground rides, traders and food vendors keep kids occupied during the day.
There are three camping fields included with the rally ticket. Field 1 is flat and open; Fields 2 and 3 are wooded. Or skip the setup and book one of our pre-pitched bell tents - we're on the rally side, not the standard campers' field.
Three stages of live bands across the weekend. The Main Marquee runs established rock and rally favourites (past years have featured the Levellers, UFO, Stranglers, Terrorvision). The Iris Tent is more laid back - blues, R&B, folk, prog and some cover bands. Full 2026 line-up announced on the official site closer to the event.
Late - it's a rally, not a wedding. Bands run into the small hours, especially Saturday night. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper, or grab the Luxury Package which includes them.
September in Co. Durham can be properly chilly. Bedding sets include a duvet, and our tents zip fully shut. Cold sleeper? Add a memory foam mattress and a bedding set - you'll be warmer than most people in their bivvy.
These tents have stood up to a lot. Integrated groundsheets, sealed seams. We've never had a guest get rained on inside one. Witton Castle is parkland - it drains better than a muddy field.
Yes. It's a bike rally with three stages and a few thousand bikers - revs, music, party energy. The Luxury Package includes ear plugs and an eye mask in the welcome pack. If quiet is your priority, this probably isn't your rally.
Yes, and it brings the tent cost down to £67.50-£127.50pp for the weekend depending on package. Each 5m tent sleeps up to 4. Strict limit for safety.
Absolutely. Two memory foam mattresses pushed together make a king-size bed.

Yes. Glamping is your accommodation, not your rally pass. All rally ticket proceeds go to the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG). Buy on the official Stormin' the Castle site.
Friday 28 August 2026, 7 days before the rally. Tents often sell out before that.
No - we pitch the whole tent village on Friday and pack down on Monday, so single-night bookings aren't possible. Your tent is yours for the full weekend either way.
